HW#36: School Proposal parts F, G, H, or I

Write at least 1.5 pages about ONE of the following parts of your team's school proposal. Write about the part your team assigned you.


F. What kinds of people do we want to attract to be teachers at your school? What personal qualities should they have? What qualifications should they have? What common approaches to learning and students do we want our teachers to share? How will we recruit teachers? How will we continue to train teachers to become better at their job?

G. How we will recruit and admit students? How important is it to us to attract a diverse student body, in terms of race, gender identity, national origin, economic status, sexual orientation, etc.? Will you take students from the nearby area or from a wider geographical region? What actions will we take to make our school a welcoming and inclusive space for all of our students?

H. How can you create partnerships with families to improve the education the students receive? What roles do you want families to play in the school community? How can you encourage them to play these roles?


I. What resources might be available in the surrounding community that you can use (you will need to use your imagination if you are not basing your school in an actual location you know about)? How can you create partnerships with community groups / businesses / government agencies to improve the education the students receive? What are some of the needs / challenges of the community that your school can help address?

Gather information about the philosophy and practices of restorative justice in schools. There are several interesting short videos online related to this, as well as numerous articles.

1) Summarize what you learned. Cite your sources (website name, article title, author if one is given)

2) Do you think you could use these ideas/practices in your learning environment? Why? How could you do so?
